In Memory of Gabriela Dragnea Horvath

In Criticism by Voyages Journal

The editorial board communicates with deep regret the recent loss of our founding editor Gabriela Dragnea Horvath.  Gabriela founded Voyages in 2013 and since then has been the driving force behind this journal, in all phases of its production.

She was also a dedicated instructor, organizing pedagogical workshops for her faculty colleagues, mentoring students in the Giglio Viola Ethics Society and teaching courses in the Liberal Studies Core Program.  She won the 2019 Liberal Studies Teaching Award for Global Site Faculty, and in recognition of her commitment to student success and academic rigor, this award has now been renamed the Gabriela Dragnea Horvath Teaching Excellence Award for Global Site Faculty.

We will miss her passion for investigating the many nuances of humanism in her writing and teaching and for her warm and generous character.

For the attention and encouragement that she gave to students and colleagues alike.

For her lucidity, enthusiasm and infinite curiosity for this world.

For all the things that Gabriela was, we dedicate this issue, which includes some of her last written pieces, to her memory.
